Can I ask why you need the speedo functioning?

I use speed as a reference point for corner entry sometimes. It's not an absolute need of course, but for 1.8 lbs, I'd keep it on board. Plus, non functional gauges just mess with my OCD.

Each to their own I guess...Personally, the idea of looking down at the speedo to get a "feel" for a reference point would be a distraction to me.

Yes, its less than 1kg of weight but it's in a bad position, as is the ignition lock.

You don't actually notice that the speedo isn't working because it's just a blank in the dash.
If the OCD thing bothers you, removing the fuse will wok but you will get a dash light warning...can't remember if it flashes or stays on strong.

Just out of curisosty, can you pull the ABS fuse and disable the unit and get race quailty braking? I have the Speigler line delete kit, but as stated, it's a PITA job from looking at it and just thinking about if a simple fuse would work.

I plan on racing and track only. I would like to keep the speedo function, so I will be leaving the pump on the bike. I don't know if pulling the fuse would kill the speedometer or not, as my bike is in pieces at the moment during the race conversion.

You can pull the fuse, but as others have said, you lose the speedo. You also make no difference in the quality of braking. There's just too much plumbing, consisting of poor quality lines. I don't know what the pump weighs, so I can't comment. You could probably use a bicycle speedo, but that's not going to be easy to read, and I don't know how many will read to the RC's top speed.

Where I was going was trying to dispel the idea that disabling the ABS pump by pulling a fuse would improve braking, which it will not.

It takes some tech savvy but can be done, I have notes etc. and took readings / looked at waveforms with oscilloscope last time I had access to the ABS plug...

I had no idea you had figured this out (completely missed that!) but this is BIG news I med to add to my notes! Kudos for figuring out we can ditch the control and retain the Speedo and not throw a code/light!

* I just discovered while helping another member this is only valid for non RBW models before MY 2018 *

From my notes:
'ABS warning indicator = connect blk / wht wire to combo inst. to ground through a 270 ohm resistor.'

The wire in the harness is black with white stripe, other side is just a scrap of white wire tied to ground. I think I posted another description in a different thread that describes the whole thing, removing circuit board from ABS unit etc.
