OK folks... at long last and much begging on my part with the Tyga Factory, we finally have a Keyless tank cap for the RC (and Duke) 390's! I expect this will mostly just appeal to racers, but it'll work on the street as well.

You can find it here:Formula390 - Parts

Cost is ~$56 and I have 6 in stock now. Wait... scratch that... 5. Ones going on the test bike here. This thing is just too damn sweet to not have one of my own! :D

What's the inside diameter of the fuel filler hole? I always have a tough time finding keyless fuel caps with an opening large enough to fit the ripper cap on the Tuff Jugs.

I would say it's at 35.6mm nominal. That's nearly the size of the opening into the tank, so I'm not sure how much better you're going to find. Only time I've seen those dump style caps is for endurance bikes with the pressure plate seals and on offroad crawlers with fuel cells. Looking at that cap, will that even fit in the tank opening? What's it's OD? I'm curious if it would fit in the tank even if there wasn't any gas cap at all, much less keyless.

Don't they make fast dump caps that are sized for cars? I could have sworn I saw somebody at the beach last time I was down that way, and they were filling with what looked like a longer cap which had a slight angle on it.

Do you have to take the whole base off to remove the gas tank cover? That’s the issue I have with my stock cap.. every time I need to take the cover off I have to take the whole fuel cap assembly off. PITA!

yes, has to come off as well. It's what holds the gasket in place so it's gotta come off to get the cover off. This is pretty much the case with every other bike I've ever owned that had a cover instead of a tank. Otherwise you'd end up with the potential of an odd fitting cap in relation to the cover. {shrug}

Maybe we just have differing levels of "PITA" :) Really tho, it's just a few allen bolts. Not sure what the PITA factor is. The side panels are a much bigger pain as far as I'm concerned. I rode around for MONTHS without them on at one point because I was constantly having to get in there during some development work and I finally just said "Screw it. I'm just going to leave the damn things off!" LOL

Have you guys made a centre hole version yet? There doesn't seem to be any decent centre hole fillers available for those of us with AUS spec bikes.

I contacted them about it a while back, this isn't really the case unfortunately.

Unfortunately, you are correct there. That "coming soon" has been there ever since we discovered that different regions had different caps. Some got the center, most got the forward one. Why KTM made different tank caps and shape for the tank is beyond stupid. Just created a different part for no good reason, and for those regions with center hole caps being an oddball. As far as I know, there is still no point on the schedule to design a center hole part and the factory doesn't have a tank with a center hole with which to prototype against. If they got a tank in hand, it might increase the likelihood of us making one, as we'd at least at that point finally have one that we could design against and prototype. For now tho, putting all of the cards on the table as it were, the demand has been very low and the market is small enough that it's not been a high enough priority to make it onto the schedule. There's a near infinite number of products to be designed and produced, and each one can take weeks to complete. There's only so many hours in a day, and so many days a year... so that time needs to be spent on the creation of product that drives the most revenue. KTM really screwed y'all. Sorry!

Curious where are you located if it’s local I could also pick it up. Shipping was over 20 bucks for ground. I want it either way lol

I'm just SW of Austin, TX, in Dripping Springs. Locals are ALWAYS welcome, or those from out of town in the area who want to swing by the ranch. :)

Beyond stupid KTM unscrewed (according to Formula390)
Correct! US and AU models are different from the rest of the world models where they are offset forward. The EU, JP, CN, TH, PH, AR, MY, CO, BR, and ASIA models all use center hole... US and AU, Forward fillter type. Tyga just added the center hole style yesterday (June 22, 2021) so everyone else can (finally!) get a keyless cap now too! :)
