I think KTM said they won't have the production version of these ready until 2017. And I'm sure it will look a lot more civilized when it's required to comply to the rules of the road and when the bean counters have established what each part may cost :)
Just pulled the trigger and ordered all the parts for my Ninja 300 race bike. It will be a potent package with a nice HP boost, Ohlins in the back and full cartridge kit in the front. Sadly, it will not have a potent rider :D. I think I'll keep my deposit for a while though, if the KTM...
I hope you're not right ;) I've almost made up my mind to skip the RC390 and turn my Ninja 300 into a race bike. There are just so much knowledge from Ninja 250s on how to make them go fast, and it will probably take a few years for the 390s to be fully figured out. Hopefully with some...
Hmm, buying race exhaust, plastics, front forks, rear shock, upgraded brakes, rearsets etc etc will probably be more than the $4500 premium the cup bike offers, and I still need all of that. Anyway, we'll see what I'll do, will probably start an email thread with RaceTech to see what they can...
So sad that it seems they couldn't figure out a way to offer these bikes to the general public though. Or maybe they will, but nothing has been said yet.
It depends. I have a Daytona 675R. Buying the R-parts separately is many many thousands of dollars more expensive than the added retail price. Let me just keep my hope, alright :P
I desperately want it to be a kit (a reasonably priced one that is!) so that I can choose which parts I put on the bike - I need the bike to be AFM Production legal.
Hope ABS can at least be permanently set to off though - on my Daytona it's always a bummer to exit the hot pits just to realize that I forgot to turn the ABS to track mode (it's a pretty big difference in feel in the last 20%).
