I think you guys are the authority on this topic but I’ve been out of the 390 game awhile. I got out in time but had doubts my 15 RC would go the typical 25,000 I like to use a new bike despite a sweet Chad tune and measures to keep it cool, in street sport riding.
Anyway, my son called me...
The more I dig up on the 17/18 390 engines the less I think I want another one. WP seals, coolant swelling paper oil filters and catastrophic engine failures? Might be tied to the head gaskets too? Geez.
So, before I give up, are there any SS screen style oil filters for this engine? I...
I would like to know if the new exhaust is (basically) just an added on extra muffler to a different (but effectively the same) 15/16 style muffler behind the engine. If not, has anyone fitted the new gen header and muffler to eliminate the side can? The sleek underbelly exhaust was one of my...
Ex first gen RC 390 owner. I modded that one with brakes and suspension, tuner etc to get a pretty good lil sport bike. Still, I had a R3 that was bone stock that was just a better street bike, zero mods.
Anyway, the local dealer is blowing out 2017 RC/Dukes and the price caught my eye. So...
Considering another 390 (RC/Duke?) as the $3999 prices are just nuts on the 18s. I read a note or heard in a upyoutube vid that th ECU was restricted to lower RPM limiter until the 600 mile service, pretty much handcuffing you to the dealer. Is this true?
I was planning a fly n ride kinda...

Just got this back, built in a stock base but custom for my weight, height, personal needs. I added 2" in height. Mega comfy, lots of good leg room now. Loving it!
First, fan works fine on my bike but Im thinking as summer approaches the excessive shielding that it probably has can come off to better cool the radiator. Im not worried about heat on my legs. Id just like to get max air flow when the fan is on or air is passing thru it in motion.
So, anyone...
I added a PC5 and proceeded to remove the lid from the air box cover. Damn, thats loud now.
So, figured i could snuff that intake while still giving it enough air and tried this. Works for me, bike still feels great and the nasty intake roar is gone.
i choped out the rear facing panel, leaving...
Obviously meant to be here, it's poked thru a hole in a rubber boot from a connector that looks to be jumping a circuit. Anyway, black wire, bare copper strands at the end. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Anyone done it? Tips! Tricks? Advice? Results?
ive done a bunch of KTM 950s that were pretty easy to remove. This I guess will require cutting.
Thanks.
