After weeks of rain, and rain and more rain... we finally got some good weather and were able to complete our Brake Testing.

So prior to doing any brake upgrades, we went out and tested the STOCK brakes.

Tire pressures were all checked, brakes were seated w/ plenty of pad material transferred to the stock rotors.

Then after our testing, we swapped to the Galfer Wave Rotors Front & Rear which saved approx. 2 lbs of rotating mass. (this helps improve handling, quicker braking, and slightly better acceleration)

And we also upgraded to the Galfer HH Pads

And the results were great.

Updated pricing Direct from us........

Galfer 300mm DF800CW ONLY....... $227
Galfer 320mm Oversized DF800CWS ........ Only $229
Caliper Hardware Kit (for oversized rotor) - $10

So that's about $20 - $30 less, then purchasing direct from KTM.

.

See here for the installation:

Brake Test Results :

Braking Comparison : 40 mph to Zero

STOCK ............................................. 50.5’ Avg. of 10 Attempts
GALFER Wave Rotors & HH Pads Upgraded Kit ........... 42.5' Avg. of 10 Attempts

Braking Comparison : 50 mph to Zero

STOCK ............................................. 78.5' Avg. of 10 Attempts
GALFER Wave Rotors & HH Pads Upgraded Kit .......... 68.5' Avg. of 10 Attempts

This was amazing. We Shortened our stopping distance by 10 FEET at 50 mph.
The Faster the speed, the more difference between stock and the upgrade.
Most likely stops from 60 mph or above would yield even More contrast from STOCK vs. Galfer Upgrades.

Looks like you're using the 300mm disc up front instead of the 320mm version. Could you please confirm which size rotor this is?

I would guess that the 320mm added stopping power is not worth the added weight over the 300mm version. I have a Braking 320mm on a similarly weighted bike and 1 finger stoppies are possible at any speed the bike is capable of. On the super short track (think parking lot tiny) it is possible to over heat the front front brake but I think that is more a limit of the crappy Braking caliper I have. Oh this bike also makes 30hp more than the RC390.

I've had the 320mm front rotor on my bike for 3 months (I also have their rear rotor) so it should be available.

Really ? You have a Galfer 320mm Wave Rotor ? Here in the USA ?

Where did you get it ?

Because, Galfer says, they have never had any in the USA.

Installed the 320mm front rotor today. Here's a side be side comparison versus stock.

Also take note that I forgot to put the abs ring on and had to take all the bolts out again.

Dunno, it's still up on the stands. I ran out of time on Sunday. But I'll make sure to report back once it's finished and the weather cooperates.
