Polish Bubble Windscreen Scratches

My racing bubble was pretty in decent condition. Just some hairline scratches from cleaning. So I went to try to polish it, but it got worse!

I wet sand with 1000, 2000 grit, then polish compound, then waxing. The scratches got more and I can't get rid of the deeper scratches.

Which step did I do wrong?

I think it was a mistake to use 1000 or 2000 paper if you had only light marks from cleaning. At this point, if I were you I would wet-sand with progressively finer papers. I would not use that polishing compound as it is for painted finishes, not unpainted plastic.

Here is a nice, inexpensive set I bought for flattening and polishing my cylinder head: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QGZXBJL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

After working up to 10000 grit, you may be able to use PLASTIC polish, according to instructions.

I would not use any power tool. As I got to the finer papers I also would sand in up-down directions only, not circular or side-side.

Good luck! Be patient.
