RC390 budget commuter/kart track

Right now I'm just waiting to confirm I'll be ok leaned over on a sportbike again, if not I'll be on a Duke 390

Eh, just eat a bunch of jello and take a calcium supplement every day and you'll be fine. Get the sugar free jello cups so you dont wind up gaining weight, and eat one a night before bed. Watch it on the calcium pills, if you dont drink enough water you can develop kidney stones.

It's an old BMX / Downhill mountain bike injury trick. In 3 months you see an improvement, but your cartilage wont fully heal for another 6-7 months.

OK, I have to ask.

How in the hell do you lean it over far enough to scrape the kickstand?? I leaned mine over in the driveway until the left peg touched and I almost couldn't pick it back up it was over so far!!

It might have to do with the type of corner and also the compression of your shocks when you’re on it. For example I used to drag mine at the same corner on both my 390 and Fireblade.

Hey boogieman, I am located in Australia but can offer the following parts:

Front Master Cylinder & lever
Windshield

Windshield might not be worth the postage cost however :(

With your weight on it, I was dragging the feeler on the kickstand. You have to imagine that the suspension is loaded, 2-3 inches at least in hard cornering. I'm also 190lbs.

oh, ok, that makes more sense. I know for sure I am not leaning the bike as far as it will go, as for one, I am on the street, and who knows if there is mud, sand, gravel, a racoon etc mid corner. And secondly, I have only been riding since mid October.

But man, when I leaned it down in the driveway, it was WAYYYYY leaned over before anything touched the pavement.

It's a great bike to learn on the track. I am far from the fastest rider on an RC390, but the stock suspension will allow you to corner hard, but smoothly. It's a little spongy for quick corrections/transitions.

I was looking for parts on Craigslist to fix up my current RC and well... I ended up with a CVMA race bike.

Got it for $4800, 3200 miles.

This will make my budget track/commuter a true commuter... Or totalled out if the frame/forks are damaged.

Liking the look of the RC on the left there, basically just without the fairing, love race bikes that look like that.

I need to do something with the front end. It has Andreani inserts and supercorsa. I'm not getting the same feel and feedback as my last setup. I know this is a good setup, but it's not communicating well to me at this point, especially at high speed turn ins.

On a side note, I typically favor the 390 for the track because it's fully insured.

No insurance company will insure you on the track, ever -- please don't be naive.

The "safety school" comments are bogus, don't even try that.

Insurance companies will investigate, charge you with insurance fraud and you'll go to jail for a long time.

You crash at the track, you pay the bill.

I just insured my track only bike for closed course use. It's registered non-op, The only thing they will not cover is timed & competitive events. They say it's a special insurance for that which they offer as well. Speak to your provider, they are all different.

Do you have this in writing? Who is your provider?

If it is HPDE coverage like Einhorn, this is very different from full coverage.
Full coverage implies your property, other damaged property, medical expenses and other victims' medical bills are covered.
HPDE coverage is typically for your property only.

I want to be clear here: insurance companies can drop you from your plan even if you inquire about a track day. Your normal road going insurance will not cover track days.

USAA. I spoke to the agents/supervisor. Track Days/schools are OK. Policy states "loss or damage to your covered vehicle while being raced or used in any driving contest or challenge" will not be covered.

Good point on medical, I have my own medical insurance. I'm talking coverage on the bike itself. Now.. when it comes time to claim it if it goes down on a track day, I'm not so sure it'll be an easy process.

Back to RC390 please :)
