RC390 vs Ninja 400 - yammienoob

Yammienoob is a popular Youtuber. His main audience is new riders and wannabe riders.

He bought a 390 from me, and rides at my track.

I get a brief mention around 11:25 in this comparo when he takes the 390 out to play.

You'll also see a classic Rothmans Honda NSR 250.

Interesting video. The 390 is 4 seconds a lap quicker than the 400.

If my experience tracking a ninja 250 is any indication, the ninja's ergos are too street-biased. Hi bars, low, forward pegs. You'd need rearsets and lowered clip-ons on the ninja for a start, maybe the forks pulled up an inch or so in the triple.

Speaking of which: anyone have experience lowering the front end of the KTM 15-25mm for better turn-in? The RC front seems resistant to quick turn-in.

Yeah, I was killing him when he was on the 400. Coming up behind him, I was struck by how low the pegs looked, so I think you are right about that. Of course, the 390's stock pegs are kinda low for track use, though yammienoob hasn't yet installed rearsets on his RC.

I'm bringing him some stickier tires, too. He was slipping badly on the stock Metzelkers.
