Noob question: I'm looking to change my spark plug and could not see it with the ferrings off. Do i need to remove the tank?

Two Bolts and Two Nuts and you need to watch out for the washers and or collared spacers as well as disconnect the fuel and vent hoses. :)

On that note, what are people using for spark plugs?

My owner's manual lists either a Bosch VR 5 NE with an 0.8mm gap or a Bosch VR 5 NEU with a 1mm gap. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time finding those for sale at any of my usual online places. At ktmduke390forum.com they're saying that you can use a NGK LKAR8A-9 or a LKAR8AI-9 (KTM #75039093000).

Any thoughts on that? Also, what gap would you set on the NGK LKAR8A-9?

Thank you!

That NGK is factory gaped at 0.9mm. I would leave them right there.

Nearly all high performance engines say do not bend the ground strap to adjust the gap. That can lead to the ground strap breaking.

Groovy. I can't remember the last time I had to gap a spark plug but, I like to check. :)
