Looking for some "what would you do?" opinions. I want the 2022 RC390, I have my name in for a pre-order, but am having some second thoughts...
A little background: I've ridden and raced motocross for over 30 years but never owned a road bike. Twin boys and work have me to a point where my only free time is during my commute and I need some throttle therapy. Given my experience in motocross, the idea of a single cylinder bike with the power, brakes, and suspension that come stock on the RC seems like the most logical and fun choice.
My concern comes in that the closest KTM dealer is 3 hours away, a trip to drop off the bike for service is an entire day event. I can buy a Yamaha or Kawasaki 15 minutes away, Honda 10 minutes or BMW less than 5 minutes away.
With the hearsay of the KTM needing more attention service wise, reliability concerns, etc, what would you do? The RC is far more appealing than the other options to me, but I'm torn because of the lack of access to a dealer.
