What is the code they are talking about? Like a number printed on the box or a certificate included with the exhaust?

If excessive oil is getting from the crankcase into the combustion chamber theres a problem. A compression and leakdown test would help justify worn rings or bore.

I've read the 2016 models came with a slipper clutch, but saw some conflicting information about what was sold in the USA. Do American market 2016's have the factory slipper clutch or not?

I'm a sucker for using OEM parts as an upgrade. I would like to shorten up the clutch lever a bit, is it possible to use the lever from a 2017+ rc390/duke?

I used plastic panel rivets, specifically Dorman 963-056D. Found these at O'Reilly's auto parts for $3USD. They fit perfectly, covered the pipe end perfectly and are snug but still removable.
