Following. I have the same problem. I'm wondering if this can be sorted but moding the wiring on the motor side but... why are the KTM wiring diagrams hieroglyphics? I figured all I need is to figure out the wires for N and gears 1-6 on the new motor and it would be easy. but I can't figure out...
ZXR25R here in New Zealand is/was $16k (about 2x the price of the RC). The 400 would be very close to the cost of a 600. Even if they go ahead and make it I can't see many if any cross shopping between an RC and a ZXR.
Follow your own advice and look up the CentiStokes value of the oil - the actual weight number of oils means little as has been noted. The cSt value should be on the packaging somewhere - use this to compare brands.
I run a lot heavier oil in my track bike but have also put in much heavier...
Are the forks the same size? Given the whole front end looks like a significant upgrade is there potential to just drop that into an earlier gen bike. It wont be long before there's plenty of salvage titled one around for bits.
Also any idea how much more the RRP is compared to the old bike?
2022 bikes look like a good upgrade overall. I do wish they had at least bored the engine to give a proper 390cc though. The new wheels are 3.6kg lighter!! (not hard the early ones are like they are made from iron). This is possibly the single biggest improvement. I wonder if they will reverse...
OK, After many hours of research I can report that some BMW discs are an (almost) straight bolt on for early model RC wheels. Specifically discs for an S1000RR HP4, or a later model standard S1000RR with forged wheels, some models of S1000R, and some models of S1000XR. If you're buying new make...
After hours of research I think I have a solution that would open up quite a few possibilities from reasonably affordable to stupid expensive (i.e. Carbon Ceramic). Will report back soon...
Can you read a part # of those rotors so that we can cross reference them and make sure we get the correct model year? All the ones that I looked at have a 5mm offset.
You should be looking to change springs as well - stock ones are rubbish progressive springs that just seem like jelly when you get them out. I've just done this and putting in 10w oil. I'm much heavier than you though.
Thanks, that's what I thought.
I have to round anyway as the feeler gauge only has .01 increments. The problem I had is that I have the factory shims so for example the inlets pass a .07 gauge but not a .08. the factory shim is a 2.46mm. So I could go for a 2.45 which would theoretically put...
So given that the spec range for clearances on both intake and exhaust is 0.04mm and shims come in increments of 0.05mm I have an issue getting my bike within the recommended range. All my valves are just under spec on the tight side. Ideally I'd set them in the middle of the spec range however...
