From what I have learned form this forum is that there are 2 KTM maps for the 390's. 1 for the Akrapovic exhaust with the catalytic converter and 1 for the Akra pipe with out the cat. The lower horsepower in the Cup bike is due to a removable "power reduction plate".
I decided to do the first valve check/shim myself on my new '16 Duke. No big deal, I have checked/shimmed valve before. During the tear down I had the ECU sent out for the no cat Akra map. The valve adj was more (way more) involved them my Italian Husky's, but it was doable with out any hitches...

I joined this excellent forum as it appears to be the best one for KTM 390 owners. I own a '16 White 390 Duke and love it. It is not my only motorcycle. I have a couple of Italian era Husqvarna 4 strokes, but the Duke is my first KTM. Braaaap!
