I think my brakes locked on causing a crash.

Update: I only dropped the bike off at the dealer a few days ago but a good point the mechanic made was if the forks were twisted the disc could be twisted causing it to drag on on the caliper. It wasn't a frontal impact but it's a good theory.

I think my brakes locked on causing a crash.

The sub frame is bent as the bike slid backwards into a bank, im thinking its a write off.

I think my brakes locked on causing a crash.

Just checked my levers, the after market ones are 0.5mm shallower. Thats a bit of variance but i still dont think its the cause.

I think my brakes locked on causing a crash.

I have also heard of the same issue of ebay levers locking on, but people said that caused the brakes to lock up slowly not suddenly like my case, and my ABS was turned on so that should have prevented the brakes locking up too. While this is all guess work it points to an issue with the...

I think my brakes locked on causing a crash.

So the weather here on Wednesday was beautiful so i decided to go for a blast through the hills with a few friends. Unfortunately coming through a sweeping uphill right corner at medium pace it tucked the front which put me into a drain smashing up the back of the bike and doing a number on my...

    Let's see your RC

The way i worked on this part of my riding is to focus on bending your elbows and rolling your inside wrist to the inside of the corner, also try move your head where the mirrors would block your vision. Try and make it feel like you are over exaggerating your body position.

    Slipper clutch?

I personally don't think these bikes need a slipper clutch. I don't think I have ever felt the rear slide under hard braking. Unless you raise the compression or they plan on increasing the weight of the fly wheel I don't think it's needed

    big_sur's Race Build

Slight hot tear but I don't think that's too bad, the raised lip on the back of your tread pattern suggest your rebound is too fast too.

    Pirelli Diablo Rosso II psi

12000kms out of sports tyres is great mileage. For the pressures, 29 psi sounds fine. For summer/fast paced riding you might want to drop it a psi or two and for winter/slow riding you might want to increase it by a psi or two

    Rear Hub Rubber Dampers

It's called a cush drive and they will typically last the life of the bike.

Only 5K miles on stock tires

Im on the stock metzelers and they seem to be doing the job quite nicely. I will be swapping them out for super corsas soon and keeping them as spares but i havent got anything to complain about. I have had a few big slides and tucked the front in the wet (saved it) but put the blame on the...

I finally got to push my RC390 hard.

We are just coming out of winter here and yesterday was the first time since i brought the bike that the roads were dry and grit/ice free. This is the road my friends and I normally ride, we call it the Akaroa GP. It starts in Christchurch City and goes over to a township called Akaroa. Its an...
