My bike did something similar and the solution appeared to be the dealer replacing the throttle body. They installed a new map that didn't make a difference. The other thing to look into is the lean angle sensor. That would cause a bike to stall as well. If the sensor is intermittent at least.
Replacing the throttle body solved the idle problem and the stalling while ridding it as well. Once you rolled off to get it turned it would shut off and bump start itself. I had no aftermarket fuel management installed this was all factory. Although now I have it back at the dealer for a code...
I tried a Brembo MC and ran into a problem with it hitting the fairing stay. Although the braking on the Cup bike is more than sufficient. if you are hard braking on the track you are not winning time that's for sure. I only changed it since all my other bikes are on Brembo MC. That was my...
Akrapovic exhaust and whatever the factory KTM map is... Not sure. The latest update is the problem was apparently solved by KTM. They flew one of the race techs in to troubleshoot the bike it was determined to be a faulty throttle body. So now it idles and runs although the check engine light...
The bike actually stalls at idle. Once the temp gets to about 4 bars it stalls at idle. While riding on the track is stalls once you cut the throttle to turn in and them restarts likely from momentum. Nothing to do with hitting the kill switch here actually. Bike is still at the dealer now for...
I can update you with this information. Bike is still in the shop. They still have not diagnosed the problem. When and if there is a know cause or a solution I will let you know. Just in case someone else has the same problem.
Just reading through the installation instructions from Healtech, Thy point out, "1b. QSE Sensor under the bolt of shift armReplace the bolt with the one supplied. Place the conical washers at the two sides of thesensor like this: (0). Tighten the bolt in this position by about 5 Nm. If you do...
I put a complaint into the Arizona Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau. I put a message into KTM's website yesterday and called them today. You guessed it voicemail. What is extremely disappointing is the fact you shell out over 12K and there is no sense of urgency or any type of...
No changes were made and the dealer could produce the error. I was advised by both the dealer and KTM America "They could not figure out the problem." I can post the whole timeline of events and the dates but long story short I picked up the bike on 4/8/15 the bike started to shutoff on 4/9/15...
We took off the throttle limiting plate. Never had a chance to do the Dyno work again as the bike developed the shutting off problem I discussed in another post.So the Dyno we have was with the limiting plate installed.
Cup Bike
We did a Dyno run on my cup Bike it was 35hp with the restrictors in and 33hp without air restrictor, 34hp w/air restrictor & no baffle. So it appears the bike is mapped from the factory to run with the restrictors. Your results may vary my bike has some problems but that was the...
The biggest concern with the current aftermarket offerings is ground clearance. If you don't take it to the track it likely won't matter but on the track it really matters. My Ninja 250 we had to raise the pegs to the maximum and modify the exhaust to get some ground clearance. The Akrapovic...
I have sent a message to KTM America on their website since it is a holiday weekend they will not get it till Tuesday. They should be able to see the notes based on the VIN#. Every time I have called its just a voicemail no matter how long you hold for. I'll post about the status as I learn in...
Hi all,
I have a 2015 RC 390 Cup bike. The KTM experience has been less than ideal so far. During the typical warmup before track use (Track bike only as CUP bikes are not street legal) when the bike reaches 4 bars (temperature) on the display the bike just shuts off. When I say shuts off it...
Correct. I found that out reading a blog about the bikes actually:
The standard underfloor exhaust is replaced by an Akrapovic exhaust system (titanium silencer and central tube including cat).

Does anyone know if the Akrapovic exhaust that KTM offers on the Cup Bike has a catalytic converter or not? There is a large canister behind the engine. This is a track bike only. So there is no need to catalytic converter. Unfortunately there is no information on Akrapovic's website. Akropovic...
