Oil leak - help needed please

The valve cover gasket is a PITA to get situated perfectly, especially on the right side where the cam shaft ends protrude. The engine is so surgically implanted between the frame trellis', that you have to be very diligent in getting the gasket in perfectly and not misaligning it while trying...

    Shock Swap with 99-02 R6

Shock swap update Update on my R6 shock swap project: I got my shock put together and installed, but the weather here in Eastern NC has been complete garbage so I have yet to ride it.

Anyone willing to risk small bucks on these cheap chinese Rearsets?

I have a set on the bike and a spare in the parts box. For $130 each, you can get 2 pair for less than the cost of even the cheapest option available. The craftsmanship, fitment, and look exceeded my expectations. As for crashworthiness, time will tell. That is why I ordered a second set: to...

    Grips

Agreed on the stockers being garbage. I put on the G2 Quick Turn throttle tube and set of KTM half waffle open end grips made for enduros. I used 'em on my off-road bikes and they are great. Dual-compound, not too skinny or fat, and already open ended to accept bar ends, mirrors, etc.

    Quick Turn Throttle

I know the quick turn throttle tube is not a very cheap mod, especially when you add the price of grips and shipping = $100+. But, I can say that it is the single most noticeable mod I have done, and in addition to the much shorter throttle throw, the smoothness and solid feeling vs. the...

    Shock Swap with 99-02 R6

I'm doing the R6 shock swap right now and I'm gonna say "no". The reservoir being vertical will definitely interfere with the exhaust. The R6 shock has a horizontal res and barely fits. And if you mounted it backwards with the res facing the rear, it would definitely hit the airbox. I can...

    DIY Suspension Build

Good point. I'm #200 w/o gear. ~#220 with. Keep in mind that I have not confirmed that the 11.6 rear and 0.95 fronts are ideal yet, though others' research suggests so.

    DIY Suspension Build

It was a great deal. The bumper still feels good, not dried out, so I'm hoping the internal seals are fresh enough for some abuse too. As an aside, I put a zip tie on my forks and went for a hard ride yesterday to see how much travel I am using. Answer: ALL OF IT! I read that you get all...

    DIY Suspension Build

Because this is 'supposed to' be somewhat of a budget bike and because I don't race it, I'm going to take advantage of the DIY upgrade to the forks and shock that some others have done instead of just throwing a trick suspension kit at it. This option is a bit out of line with my usual bike...

    What Torque Wrench?

Concur. KTM oil filter covers seal very well with the installed O-ring. The bolts require only a smidge more than hand tight. Snug 'em down then give another 1/8 or 1/4 turn-ish. The O-ring does the sealing, the bolts just hold the cover on against the oil pressure.

    Pop/Expanding Rivets - KTM # 90114062001

Ha, I never even reinstalled them. It seems to me that they are pretty useless. The panel stays just fine without them and it makes disassembly/reassembly easier.

    Rear Shock upgrade

Anyone have any confirmation on the proper spring rate for the r6 shock swap for a 200lb'er. Obviously Race Tech's rate calc won't work for this, so i'm trying to swag it. Formula390 mentioned starting with a 11.6, but others have said that is too soft for a 200# rider.

    Rear Shock upgrade

I just bought one off Ebay for $35. Planning to have RT do a full rebuild on it and their preload adjuster...and also gonna get some stiffer fork springs from them. I dont race and only do the occasional track day and spirited road riding and just couldn't justify pulling the trigger on an...

    tyga rear sets lowered

Ah, I see. Why not just keep the stockers and save yourself $400+ bucks? Are the stockers just that crappy?
