Greetings,
I’m new to this forum, looking for some information. I’m considering a RC390 as a track/race bike. In particular, there’s a 2015 cup bike for sale I’m interested in, but I don’t know much about the 390. I’ve heard about early reliability issues; are there model years to avoid? Any advantage to a newer year? What other issues are there aside from loose valves and head gaskets, are there any tech fixes for those? I’m sure there’s a lot of info in the forum, which I will search on, just hoping for some quick answers.
My background: been riding 30+years, raced MX, off road, and roadracing. I roadraced ‘98-‘04, cost of racing ultimately forced retirement, was racing a 750 at Willow Springs. I don’t want to spend that kind of money again, but still want to enjoy being on the track, plus, as I get older, going scary fast is not as thrilling as it used to be.
I feel I’m a bit big for the 390, I’m 5’11, 210 (need to get back to my 185 racing weight)......any thoughts?
Other bike considered is SV650.
