PLEASE don't beat me up on this one........ (I'm new to KTM, and sport bikes in general)- How often are people changing the oil on these bikes? I know what the manual says, but that seems like a REALLY bad idea, and it's geared towards street riders only. I did the initial 600 mile oil change, new screens, new filter- VERY interesting...... I do about 8-10 track days a year. I recently switched to the RC390 after riding a supermoto for many years. I used to change my oil in my CRF450R (supermoto) every 5 hours of "tach time" on the hour meter. That was strictly a track bike, with no odometer. Supermoto bikes are run VERY hard, and used in a manner which they were never intended to be used. Now, I'm running 50/50 street/track and don't really know what to do? This motor seems pretty "high-strung" like a supermoto, but people seem to be getting some decent mileage out of these motors? I did install an hour meter on my RC at the 600 mile service. I'm not sure if I should go by hours, or milage? I used to run Amsoil in everything I own. I reluctantly switched to Motoule 15W-50 on the RC (I fear change). I don't know much about this oil, or it's longevity. Any constructive advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance-
