If you expect to be owning motorcycles for a while - like more than a year or two - then you should consider buying a quality stand such as a Pit Bull. Then you won't have to buy another one on a year or two and find a way to discard the wobbly one that was cheaper than Pit Bull.

Also consider that a stand that requires spools will be more secure than one with pads that fit under the swingarm.

For the front, I strongly prefer the type that lifts at the streering head rather than the fork bottoms, so you can remove the forks for service.

On a Pitbull rear stand and a Baxley front chock, I can hang off the motorcycle and demonstrate body position with no fear of a tip over. With KTM or the S1000RR on the stands.

After having bought two cheap rear stands, I bought a PitBull and I'll never buy anything else.
