What year/model is this RC390?

Hi, I’ve bought an RC390 to turn in to a race bike. It’s vin plate says it’s a late 2016 model. I recently purchased GB case covers to put on (I ordered a set supposedly for 2014-2016 models), the right side looks like it lines up perfectly but the left side does not. This lead to my question... is my bike a 2017 model and I’ve ordered the wrong part or do I have a 2016 model and my supplier has given me the wrong product?

You’ll know if it’s a 17 if your throttle is ride by wire instead of a cable. You’ve likely a 16. I had this issue in the past with case covers not being labeled correctly. Search for the individual pieces if you can. They have a 16 version of that led hand side cover.

This is what you need IMG_2900.JPG

Just realized you were looking at gb racing covers not Rg racing. Different brands.my bad.

What was the reason for the cover change?

The only difference I really see is the angle of the "squarish" part that sticks out. On the later models, it looks like they rotated that part around closer to the back of the bike. Im guessing to gain ground clearance? I know Ive beveled off my engine case from dragging that part of it.. not crashing.

The engine cases are for a ‘17+ RC 390 & 13+ Duke 390, perhaps they changed the engine cases when they added the slipper clutch (which the duke 390 was already using).
