Why an Exhaust?

Just curious as to why people need to install an exhaust on a single cylinder?

Sound?
Looks?
Surely your not picking up any extra HP or Torque?
Personally I think the bike looks better with out an exhaust?

Waiting on comments and the excitement to start

Sound, extra Weight savings, Looks....... sometimes a little more power or torque bump.

i have two first gen RC390's with the Competition Werks pipe on both and custom ECU tunes MUCH more torque and increased HP, but, loud...
