Track guys/gals.... to insure or not?

I'm just curious if the folks riding track exclusively are insuring their bikes and if so why.
I realize that some insurance companies cover track casualties and others don't.
Please share your experience.

I had a mishap that insurance covered because it was a "school." My understanding is that open trackdays (like racing) are not covered, at least not by your run-of-the-mill bike insurance.

Whether or not your insurance covers non-timed events depends on the individual insurance company. I only have comprehensive on my track bikes to be covered for fire, theft etc.

I e-mailed my state farm agent a while ago and they said as long as it's non-timed and non-competitive event it will be covered as a collision claim. Adding racing to that though and you're out of luck.

I went ahead and skipped on collision for the bike. She's 50/50 track/street. Collision cost per year was almost 15% of the cost of the bike.
