I would definitely get your valve clearances checked on the first service, or even earlier. I did my own, all were tight, and the left hand intake had lost all clearance, requiring two attempts to get it within spec. I would say you also also need get in there to check for the exhaust cams and finger followers for unusual wear. I know others on here had issues with that, and so did I. Brought the cams to the dealer mechanic to see what he thought of it. After a good long look he asked me how often I plan on getting into the engine, and we decided it's something we're gonna have to keep an eye on. Since others ended up getting them replaced under warranty, I'll probably do the same here in a couple months when I'm up for the third service.
Despite that unusual wear, the bike has performed great. Last month took it on a ten day, 3500 mile tour without issue. Just yesterday it hit 7000 miles, and I'm very happy with it!
