    High compression gasket valve tolerance

On the rebuild a high compression gasket was installed and the valve clearances were set tight, .6 and .1, is this to get more out of the higher compression or do I need to correct this?

    Shimming Valves

So given that the spec range for clearances on both intake and exhaust is 0.04mm and shims come in increments of 0.05mm I have an issue getting my bike within the recommended range. All my valves are just under spec on the tight side. Ideally I'd set them in the middle of the spec range however...

Titanium valves straight from the horse's mouth (Ferrea)

I though I would post this, to help wondering minds save some cash... https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=334&v=8X7h6H2LSpU Cliff notes are that titanium valves don't perform well on the exhaust side for motors that run hot. Titanium can be used on the intake side, but unless an alcohol...

    Valve clearance

Hello, I would appreciate some input from more experienced members here. I had check the valve clearances and I found that all four valves are out of specs and pretty tight. Both intake valves were only 0.04mm and both exhaust valves were 0.08mm. Now since the dealer has shims that are...

Valve Adjustment - Shimming nightmare - Any ideas?

Hi all, I'm working through my first valve adjustment with the RC. Second owner and the original didn't have anything for records so I'm going to assume never had valves checked (12,000km). After pulling everything apart I was tight on all 4 valves by either .01 or .02mm, not a big deal. So I...

Something else to keep an eye out when checking valves

my bike is 2015 cup bike I got it new in 2015, it has about 15 sprint races on it and a probably about 10 track days, i check valves religiously and oil changes are done after every outing, the one thing i have never bother to check is the cam sprocket bolts, well the intake bolt decided to back...

Exhausts again, but nice and harmless

Hi Friends I bought a 2015 RC-390 for daily use (have MV Agusta Dragster for weekends) But, for safety reasons, I want a louder exhausts, that will not braking the valves in terms of lack of "back pressure" or lean mixture I love the under belly options (such as GPR ghost), or the GP style...

    valves timing

Hello I would like to study a possible exhaust, and I'm looking for valves timing. It is not in the owner manual, and I'm surprised to not find it either inside the KTM Workshop manual. Is there any technical litterature (similar to Haynes manual) about our prefered bike? The engine stability...

Just adjusted the valves. Any questions?

At 15,684 miles I decided I had punished the KTM's mill long enough. I broke down and adjusted the valves. Of course, this required the acquisition of Harbor Freight's 1,000 # motorcycle lift that taunts us with that $299.99 coupon each month in the back of the MC mags. It's sweet! It all went...
