I was under the impression the stock dash was required for the bike to function properly as it communicates data to the ECU.

Doesn't the instrument cluster just mimic what information is in the ECU?

I read a reply from Fast Eddy in a post talking about replacing the stock cluster with an analogue guage cluster. His response was "The combo instrument is a bit more complicated then it may seem as it communicates on the CAN data bus / analog inputs - outputs / pother data signaling to and from the ECU".

I am no more knowledgable than the next person, but I am instrested in getting rid of the stock cluster entirely and finding a replacement. Just wasn't sure if it was possible on these bikes.
