If you guys clean and lubricate your chain a lot, make sureyou remove the front chain guard every so often and clean behind there as well.I took mine off a couple weeks ago and it was pretty dirty behind the guard andI always thought I kept my bike very clean. Now that I know better, I’ll...
Sooo... It happened.
There are bubbles coming up in the rad and the bike gets hot in a hurry.
While I have the heart open, what else should I do?
Should I change the rings and chain?
The list so far is pretty short, just change the gasket, check valve clearance.
Any advice is appreciated!
To add to the mix, I'm now also producing a Chromoly 4140 Hardened Rockwell 36C front sprocket for the stock 520 chain. These sprockets are hard clear through, not case hardened as most front sprockets are. This means it'll last a LOT longer. Going up to a 16T front is basically about the same...

Hi all, recently purchased a 2016 RC390. Its my first bike and I love it. I have been lurking since I purchased it and have been trying to pick up information.
It was used with an unknown history but appeared to be in decent shape. Took it home and replaced all the oil & filter with Motul...
I have about 400 miles on my 2017 RC 390 and the chain is very loose and lower part of the chain touches swingarm if I move it; it was like this from the day one. Is it normal, if not how much slack it should have?
This is probably not a problem specific to the rc390, but this is my first bike and I could use an opinion diagnosing a problem I've been having this past week:
Bike experiences irregular bumpiness / chunkiness on all road conditions at almost any speed. Can't tell if this problem has always...
Just got my new RC yesterday--and it didn't come with an owner's manual (dealer has one on order for me).
Going over the bike last night, I noticed some threaded holes in the rear swingarm; two of them are directly above the chain tensioner slides, and look like they might be for a lock bolt...
Hello
I have RC390 white ABS, year 2016.
I looked at 2016 KTM RC 390 White ABS Rear Wheel | KTM Parts Pro and found two things:
1) that the 90110015100 kit of chain and sprockets, but it doesn't mention what chain, and if it comes with rivet link, or close chain. Anyone knows ?
2) that...
It seems that the factory failed to install the sprocket correctly, although I will admit It's not something that I ever pulled to check as it wasn't rocking or noisy. I have gone to change my chain + sprockets and noticed the shaft splines are pretty badly chewed :(
Now I'm sure I could argue...
Morning all, did a search on this and it basically gave me the whole forum!
• Regarding chains and sprockets what makes are you using, what's best and to avoid?
• Also what ratios are you using, keeping standard teeth ratio and chain sizes?
Thanks for the help
Andy
The stock RC390 chain is endless ( no master link) . I got a smaller rear sprocket to give more top speed. I also ordered a Ktm master link for the chain so I could take out a few links and still use the stock chain. Sadly, the master link KTM supplied won't work with the stock chain. Moral of...
So there are more parts which are coming out of production and will be available VERY soon:
There are: 2 new Tailsections. Pictured are the fiberglass variants, but will be available in Carbon Fiber as well. These two configurations available are:
1) GP Style now with a new undertray which...
My RC 390 was receiving a light dusting of rusty powder around the rapidly stretching stock chain.
I replaced the chain this afternoon with an RK 520 XW.
The new chain was more than a full link shorter in length.
When I ground the stock rivets out, I imagined the old chain was throwing...
Not sure what the manual recommends and just a street rider myself but try to lube every 200-500 miles (using chain wax atm...) don't like to put too much on because the rear rim get's full and it builds up under the front cover.
In the manual, it says that to check the tension of the chain, the upper chain section must be taut when you check the play on the lower section. So does that mean that you push up on the upper chain section until it's tight, hold it tight, and then check the play on the bottom section? When I...
Anyone take their chain cover off to clean their chain yet? Holy cow that made that a maddening process. 4 different tools, and a bolt that is too long to clear the rear sets. And two pieces? really?
Does the Duke 390 share swingarms? Because I really like the simpler chain cover on that bike...
